Program Coordinator (EYC/YHDP)

Hours: Full-time, occasional evenings, and weekend work possible 

 

Job Summary: 

This position is split 50/50 between 2 grants, Elevate Youth California (EYC) and Youth Homeless Demonstration Project (YHDP). The EYC program at AVPH is focused on providing youth and young adults with meaningful mentorship opportunities, leadership development and advocacy for policy change. The YHDP program focuses on providing youth ages 18-24 who are actively experiencing homelessness with case management and supportive services. In the role of Project Coordinator you will be responsible for planning and co-facilitating mentoring groups, co-facilitating the Youth Coalition, doing administrative support for YHDP file keeping and other tasks as assigned. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Have thorough knowledge of program goals, objectives, policies and procedures. 
  • Organize and implement program activities (scope of work). 
  • Collect and/or record program service records/information. 
  • Be compliant with all training requirements. 
  • Responsible for regular communications with all project staff. 
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating monthly meetings with partnered agencies as needed. 
  • Ability to function effectively under pressure to meet schedules and deadlines. 
  • Assist with Outreach in the community. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Education, Experience & Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, from an accredited university or at least 2 years’ experience in administration or coordinating and supporting programs 
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.  
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with youth ages 10-25. 
  • At least two years of work experience in a closely related position. 
  • Maintain a valid California driver’s license. 
  • Must have automobile and maintain automobile insurance. 
  • Meet basic health and background check requirements and physical job standards. 
  • Vaccination for COVID-19 highly encouraged. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and organizational relationships. 
  • Knowledge of scheduling and coordinating 
  • Ability to work independently and with little to no supervision. 
  • Ability to plan and effectively manage complex, long-term projects. 
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet schedules and deadlines. 
  • Ability to compose routine correspondence and reports. 
  • Ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. 
  • Conforms with and supports organization’s quality assurance and improvement guidelines. 
  • Supports and adheres to the values and mission statement established by the AVPH Board of Directors. 
  • Experience of volunteer management and project planning methods  
  • Experience working with culturally diverse communities and volunteers with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills.  
  • Must demonstrate excellent skills in Microsoft Office Software. 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with social media (Instagram, podcast platforms, etc.) 

Working Conditions: 

  • Work in flexible settings, hybrid model at the discretion of Program Manager. 
  • Working with overburdened, often high-risk families of low economic and varied cultural backgrounds, living in high-risk areas. 
  • Able to maintain HIPAA requirements with confidential information, safely and discreetly, as required, when working in various settings   
  • This position may require lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., stooping, bending, squatting, sitting on the floor, and/or walking.
