RHAS Trainer

Position Reports To: Supervisor/Program Manager

Hours: Full-time, occasional evening and weekend work required

Job Summary:

The RHAS Trainer is responsible for providing training and support to prospective relatives and NREF caregivers who have applied for Resource Family Approval (RFA) program through DCFS, after they have been referred by DCFS. The trainer would act as a liaison between the community, AVPH, and DCFS to disseminate information about the RFA approval process and requirements. The RHAS Trainer provides pre-approval training and post-approval training. Program hours of service vary Monday through Saturday from 8:00am to 8:00pm.

  • Maintain daily work schedule: Keep current Outlook calendar showing appointments as set the last day of the workweek for the following week. Update as changes occur.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training courses as required and as authorized.
  • Comprehensively & accurately gather data and documentation needed per grant requirements.
  • Ability to conduct assessment and training of applicants who have applied for RFA.
  • Provide training exactly as outlined in the curriculum provided by DCFS.
  • Collaborates with the RHAS program and outside agencies to assist children/families with access to needed resources and services.
  • Work one-on-one in the home or office to provide RFA training with clients that might need accommodations.
  • May on occasion be required to do Home Assessment to support the RHAS team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, program manager and/or director.


Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or a minimum of 32 completed units from an accredited University, College or Community College, with at least 16 units in Social Work, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Administration or Public Health
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in the field of Social Work, Behavioral Science or Social Science
  • Experience working with culturally diverse communities and families with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record with respect to detail orientation and accuracy.
  • Must demonstrate excellent skills in Microsoft excel, word, outlook and the ability to learn new data programs.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Current and maintained CA driver’s license.
  • Current/maintained auto insurance.
  • Own transportation for work-related purposes
  • Current and maintained infant and adult CPR.
  • Meet basic health requirements, background check, and physical job standards.
  • Must have TB clearance (or perform upon hire)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly encouraged.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Primarily in an office setting and/or via a virtual platform. Occasionally, will work in the community providing outreach.
  • Working with overburdened, often high-risk clients of low economic and varied cultural backgrounds, living in high-risk areas.
  • Work is often performed under stressful and emotional conditions.
  • This position requires lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., stooping, bending, squatting, sitting on the floor, walking, running (may be needed).
