Associate Director for Youth Services Department

Lancaster, CA

Position Reports To: Director of Direct Services

Hours: Full-time, occasional evening and weekend work required

Salary: $62,000- $80,000, annually

Program Management (Roles and Responsibilities)

  • Work with Director to ensure all activities to meet service goals, objectives and Scope of Work
  • Work with Technical Assistance agency for support and guidance on achieving Scope of Work goals
  • Collaborate with community partners to achieve Scope of Work goals
  • Develop and facilitate in AV4YouthCoalition
  • Submit annual grant required reports upon approval of Executive Director
  • Work with HR Dept to support new hires, including; interviews and training
  • Develop and sustain relationships with community partners
  • Oversight of budget, fiscal management of funds/ ability to manage and utilize programmatic budget
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs, functions and implementation changes to provide for more effective and efficient operations
  • Representing the program and public funder/agencies, professional and community groups and the general public
  • Work with local school districts to provide assemblies/workshops to educate on mental health, anti-hate, bullying, financial literacy, job skills, substance use, suicide prevention, etc,.
  • Provide opportunities for youth to engage with one another and AVPH
  • Support and provide individual and group Reflective Supervision to Program Manager and youth direct staff
  • Quality Assurance including audit charts, visits and satisfactory surveys
  • Review time sheets
  • Ensure compliance of all HIPAA and other client rights as it relates to consents and enrollment practices
  • Supports and adheres to the values and mission statement established by the AVPH Board of Directors
  • Attends mandatory meetings and trainings set forth by AVPH and funders
  • All duties as assigned

  • Ability to assess families across a broad spectrum of areas, recognizing professional boundaries and the need for consultation from other disciplines.

  • Knowledgeable about local community resources and able to refer families to appropriate agencies.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to understand distribution site operations.

  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree, preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Public Health, or a related field with three (3) years’ experience in management and/or working with the youth population or a bachelor’s degree in related field with a combination of five (5) years’ experience in management and/or working with the youth population.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working and developing youth programs
  • At least two (2) years' experience working with the school districts
  • At least two (2) years’ proven experience in grant writing, budget preparation, contract management and compliance.
  • At least three (3) years supervising staff and providing reflective supervision
  • Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with staff, community-based organizations, county facilities and residents
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Proficient written, intrapersonal, communication skills (verbal), organizational skills
  • Demonstrated track record with respect to detail orientation and accuracy
  • Must demonstrate excellent skills in Microsoft excel, word, outlook and the ability to learn new data programs
  • Attention to detail and accurate.
  • Ability to solve problems, find and correct errors.
  • Maintain a valid California driver’s license.
  • Must have an automobile and maintain auto insurance
  • Vaccinated for COVID-19, highly encouraged

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily in office setting and/or via a virtual platform.
  • Office, and possible community settings
  • This position requires lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., stooping, bending, squatting, sitting on the floor, walking, running (may be needed)
